Detained under Goondas Act

District Collector A. Annadurai today ordered the detention of two notorious rowdies – Basheer Ahamed (33) and Raja alias Sheik Niyas (34), both residing at Mela Cauvery area in Kumbakonam taluk, under the Goondas Act.
Based on the recommendations by Superintendent of Police J. Mahesh and relevant documents produced by Circle Inspector K Suguna of Swamimalai Police Station, the Collector ordered the detention of Basheer Ahamed and Sheik Niyas under Section 3 (i) of the Act for indulging in activities prejudicial to the maintenance of public order and peace.
They both were lodged at the Central Prison, Tiruchi.
