Thanjavur: As many as 60 activists of the women’s wing of Dravidar Kazhagam (DK) were arrested when they burnt the copy of `Manusmriti’ here today defying police prohibition order.
Led by state secretaryA Kalaichelvi, male members also gathered in front of the Head Post Office and burnt the copy of Manusmriti alleging that it denigrated women.
Among others who took part in the agitation were Pudukottai zone secretary S Thenmozhi, district president T Jayalakshmi, Thanjavur president M Selvamani and secretary A Bhagyam
