Expelled DMDK MLA VC Chandrakumar on Wednesday declared that the rebellion in the party would grow stronger in the coming days. Stepping up attack on the leadership, he leveled allegations that Vijayakanth had tied up with a man, Vaiko and the PWF that was described as the B Team of the AIADMK. It is ironic, he said, that the Vijayakanth decision will only help Jayalalithaa against whom he led a fight for the last four years and vowed to dislodge her, the expelled DMDK MLA said.
Chandrakumar alleged that money power was behind the creation of PWFand his leader’s sudden switch to that party surprised and shocked many partymen. “The script of DMDK-PWF tie up was supplied by AIADMK leaders and executed by Vaiko,” he said.
He alleged that PWF leader Vaiko had received huge sums of money from Jayalalithaa. When pressed for details said “I have reasons to believe that Jayalalithaa had given Rs 1500 crore to Vaiko.” Continuing his attack on Vijayakanth, Chandrakumar said “we do not know why all of a sudden Captain Vijayakanth went over to the PWF, when the entire party was for tying up with DMK for a strong alliance.” His decision will only help AIADMK, he said.
“Now more DMDK leaders will be joining the chorus against the tie up with PWF, “ Chandrakumar said. S Parthasarathy DMDK functionary dismissed the rebellion as one of no consequence “as it is Vijayakanth who made them leaders and MLAs. They will be taught a lesson by the people.” Vaiko dismissed the rebel talk and said Vijayakanth will answer at the rally on April 10 and asserted that the PWF DMDK alliance would be victorious and DMK will end up third in the contest.
“By tying up with the PWF, Captain Vijayakanth has damaged his party in this elections and reduced its bargaining power for the next,” said Prof S Janakarajan of MIDS, Chennai.
The DMDK cadres and leaders were spending huge amounts of money and with PWF alliance they know they would not win., Which is why the rebellion, he said.
Expelled DMDK MLA.Chandrakumar wondered if Vijayakanth was still in control of the party and insinuated that it was his wife Premalata who was calling the shots and it was she who initiated talks with the PWF.
