Amidst allegations of family politics, the DMK treasurer and political heir to the party patriarch M. Karunanidhi, M.K. Stalin has assured that his next generation will not enter politics.

Participating in an interactive question answer session, Stalinidam Kaelungal (Ask Stalin), aired by a private television channel recently, Stalin was asked if he would allow his children to get into politics. While replying in the negative, he accused the opposition of making such remarks.

“I have been involved in politics for more than 45 years and did not suddenly rise to the top post. I worked at the grass root level and have reached this position, step by step. It is the opposition, including Jayalalithaa, who is making such remarks to degrade the name of the DMK,” said Stalin, adding that Jayalalithaa had no rights to claim such things, with Sasikala by her side.

Commenting on Jaya’s statement that the cinema industry was free and safe in the AIADMK regime, Stalin claimed that it would be apt if the question was raised to actors Vijay and Kamal Hassan, who, according to him, were troubled by the Jaya regime before the release of their films.

Stalin, who had conducted the ‘Namakku Namae’ campaign in all the 234 constituencies in the state, informed that the tour taught him that freebies are not what people want, and also helped the party prepare a manifesto that would benefit the people.

“People want development and assistance. They do not want freebies. This has been reflected by our manifesto, and our government will reflect the same,” claimed Stalin.

To a question asked about his favourite cricket player, Stalin revealed that Dhoni and his helicopter shots were his favourites.
