DMK ex-MP detained at airport for bullets in baggage

Coimbatore : A former DMK MP, SR Jayadurai, was detained for a while at Coimbatore airrport yesterday, as five live rounds of bullets were found in his baggage, police said on Monday.

Jayadurai, who arrived at the airport around 9 pm, was found carrying five bullets in his baggage and detained for questioning.

He told officials that he possessed arms licence and by mistake carried the bullets and produced the copy of the licence. Police asked him to produce the original, forcing Jayadurai to stay overnight in the city.,

He produced the original this morning and left for Chennai.
