Wheelchair bound musician S.R. Krishnamurthy has a career spanning four decades. Born with a physical disorder, he has no hands and legs. But this 70-year-old artiste has achieved what several other musicians would not have achieved in their career. He is also a motivational speaker.
‘Kudrai Ondram Iidivi’, a documentary that traces the life and journey of this musician, was launched in Perur by Covai Aram Foundation.
Rahul Venkat (cameraman), S.R. Ram Kumar (director) and Gajendran (assistant director) are the ones who have been working for a couple of months on this documentary. This documentary brings to light the challenges Krishnamurthy faces. It also gives a detailed account of the achievements of this great musician who specialises in Carnatic music.
“I am happy to be a part of the launch of this documentary. I have visited several schools and colleges and travelled across the country to deliver motivational talks. Through this documentary I can possibly reach out to many more people,” Krishnamurthy says.
The first copy of the documentary was received by S.P. Velumani, Minister for Municipal Administration, Rural Development, Law Courts and Prisons. At the launch of this documentary, Raghuram, founder of Covai Aram Foundation said that 1,000 DVD copies of this documentary would be distributed. He also made a mention of seeking the necessary permission to play this documentary in the Government aided schools that were equipped with smart class facility.
“Carnatic musician Krishnamurthy is a legend. Next to M.S. Subbulakshmi, he is another great musician and a humble person who has immense self-confidence to do the things that we normal people cannot do,” Velumani said, post the launch.
