Double life, 10-year RI for three for murder of father, daughter

A special court here today sentenced three persons to double life imprisonment and 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for the murder of a man and his daughter and injuring two women near Sulur on
the outskirts some three years ago.
The prosecution case was that the trio – Uday Kumar (19), S Paramasivan (23) from Nangunei and Syed Abdul Khadar (29) of Puliyangudi – had done to death a power loom unit owner Rakiappan and his daughter Vanitha in
their house in Kumarapalayam on December 24, 2014, night.
The reason for the crime was Rakiappan’s refusal to give some money Kumar sought. He was working in the unit along with Syed.
Kumar, who went to the unit, returned with two other accused and stabbed Rakiappan leading to his death. Since the incident happened in front of Vanitha, the accused stabbed her also to death.
The trio also attempted to murder Rakiappan’s wife and another daughter who rushed to the spot after hearing the screams, but were seriously injured.
The case was heard in the Special Court here and judge Gunasekharan awarded double life for the murder and 10 years RI for attempt to murder two women. The sentence has to be run consecutively, the judge said.
