For two decades now, Coimbatore-based photographer Nidhyan Manlarasu has been capturing images of the jungles on his lenses. The journey so far, says this photographer, has been exciting and rewarding.

He specializes in wildlife photography, and has on display, some of the images of the wild that he had captured in the past five years. The photographs are on display at the Coimbatore Medical College (CMC) campus, on Avinashi Road, as a part of the college’s golden jubilee celebrations. The exhibition is on till the end of June.

Among the 90 odd photographs is an image of a herd of elephants in the backdrop of mountains. There also is the still of a peacock moments before the rains. Also on display are close up images of wildflowers. The photographer tells us that these 90 pictures are the best of his works.

A nature enthusiast himself, Nidhyan tells us that he had received no formal training in photography. “I worked at Photo Centre for seven years and this is where I learned the technical aspects of photography,” he says. Currently, he is working in Coimbatore, and photography is his hobby. Once in a while, he ventures into the forest and captures real life images of the wild animals and plants.

Through photography, Nidhyan aims at spreading his message to conserve nature.
