Efforts on to make Ooty free from open defecation

Ooty: Efforts are being taken to make Udhagamandalam free from open defecation in another one year Speaking at the 151st Foundation day celebrations of the Municipality, its commissioner, G. Prabhakaran said all out efforts will be taken, with the assistance of public and NGOs to prevent open defecation in the town. A cake was cut on the occasion.
In order to increase the revenue of the municipality, it was planned to hike the rent of nearly 3,000 shops existing in the Municipal market, which at present was very meagre, he said.
The municipality was planning to link with the Centre’s AMRIT (Affordable Medicines and Reliable for Treatment), scheme to improve health care capacity.
