Eight-year-old boy dies of suspected dengue

An eight-year old boy died of suspected dengue in a private hospital here on Monday.

The boy, Mohammed Umar Siddiq, of Velampalayam in Tirupur district was admitted to the hospital a few days ago, with the symptoms of dengue. However, without responding to treatment, the boy died in the wee hours.

At Periyanaickenpalayam, a 20-year-old youth died of mysterious fever in a private hospital in the morning.

Ali Akbar, a native of Assam, who was undergoing treatment for fever for the last few days, died in the morning, police said. Ali, who was found in an unconscious state in his room, was brought to the Government Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Periyanaickenpalayam police are investigating, they said.
