Electronic devices worth Rs. 50,000 looted from locked mosque

Thanjavur: Unidentified thieves looted electrical and electronic devices worth Rs. 50,000 from a locked mosque at Thirumangalakudi village near Kumbakonam in the early hours of today.

The unidentified thieves gained entry into the mosque after breaking open its locks and took away electrical and electronic devices, including a mike and two amplifiers.

The theft came to light when the Imam came to open the mosque as usual to lead the morning prayer. On being informed, a police team attached to the Thiruvidaimarudur police station visited, inspected the scene of crime and conducted an enquiry. Based on a complaint by the mosque’s trustee, Ali, police have registered a case and are investigating.
