Elephant calf falls to death

A three-year old male elephant calf was found dead in the Devala Forest area near Pandalur about 80 km from here.
Forest Department officials, including veterinarian Prabu rushed to the spot on receiving the information. Post-mortem revealed that the elephant died due to a fall from a height.
As the carcass was half-eaten by animals in the forest, it was left there, Prabu said.
