Farmer arrested for killing wife

Police arrested a farmer for killing his wife following a dispute over buying a mobile phone at Kinathukadavu on Monday.

According to police, Balamurugan, (38), an alcoholic, had purchased a mobile phone for Rs. 9,000 on Sunday night and showed it to his wife Muthulakshmi.

An angered Muthulakshmi questioned him for buying an expensive phone at a time of a financial crunch at home. A quarrel broke out between the couple and in a fit of rage, Balamurugan hit Muthulakshmi with a pick axe, killing her instantly.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body and sent it for post mortem to the Government Hospital.
They arrested Balamurugan. Further investigations are on.
