The Shivaji Ganesan fans association has demanded reinstallation of the thespian Tamil actor’s statue at Marina Beach on Kamaraj Road. A one-day token fast will be observed in the city tomorrow.

Since the removal of the statue in the middle of night had hurt the sentiments of the lakhs of fans and left an everlasting blot on the Government, the Nadigar Thilakam Shivaji Samoohanala Peravai (Shivaji Social Welfare Federation) had organised the hunger strike, federation president K Chandrasekaran said.

The fans and admirers wanted the statue to be re-installed between those of Mahatma Gandhi and Kamaraj, he said in a statement.
