Father brands daughter, arrested

Police arrested a man for branding his eight-year-old daughter with a hot iron rod when she was sleeping at their house in Sulur Jayakrishnapuram near Negamam.
According to police, Govindarajan who was under the influence of alcohol, lifted the child by her ears before branding her. The child’s mother, Sudha who works in a mill in shifts, was away for work when the incident happened.
Hearing the child’s scream neighbours rushed to and took away the child. They informed Sudha, who admitted the child at the Pollachi Government Hospital and later lodged a complaint with the police.
