Frustrated with the constant failure to appear before the court in a cheating case under the Tamil Nadu Protection of Interests of Depositors (in Financial Establishments) Act (TNPID), the judge has asked the police to announce the owners of a private finance unit as absconders, if they fail to turn up for the hearing in August.

According to police, they had filed cases against three persons – M. Asmathon Kori (38) and M. Amjathkan Kori (36), of Kovai Pudhur, and B. Syed Mohammed Rafi (32) from Trichy, the joint owners of the Green Life Finance Unit – for cheating the public of more than Rs. 2 crores.

As many as 100 persons had been cheated by the trio, and they have been absconding since then. Despite all the notices that were served by the court asking them to appear for a hearing, they continue to remain absent for many years.

The case came up for hearing on 29.6.2016, and since the accused failed to appear, the court suggested the police to add their names to the absconders list if they fail to turn up on August 3.
