The Kovai Medical Center and Hospital seems to be in the dock again now with an FIR being registered on Dean V Kumaran and Medical Director AN Murugan for allegedly forcing a coma patient to get discharged.

The relatives of the patients had also alleged of medical negligence on part of the hospital. It may be recalled that there media persons resorted to protests after the hospital authorities physically assaulted a camera man who attempted to capture the protests of the relatives of the patient who had demonstrated outside the hospital a month back.

The patient, E.Gokulraj (22) of Nilgiris was admitted to the KMCH on October 2015 with throat pain. However, due to an alleged wrong surgery, Gokul Raj slipped into coma and all attempts to revive him only worsened.

Unable to stabilize his conditions, the hospital management had reportedly tried to send him out and asked for ₹11 lakh for the treatment.

Later, members of the Nilgris District Naakubetta Badagas Welfare Association petitioned the District Collector Archana Patnaik requesting her to intervene in the issue.

While the city police were accused of being silent on the issue, they had asked the parents to register a case against the management. Since Gokul Raj’s mother E Kumari came forward to register a case, the Pelamedu police have registered cases against the Dean and Medical Director of the Hospital
