Five persons penalised for hunting rabbit

Coimbatore : Five persons were nabbed while trying to hunt rabbits in the forest area of Anaimaduvu village in Maruthamalai on the city outskirts.

Based on specific information on the night of March 9 that some persons were involved in hunting jungle rabbits in the area, forest ranger, along with a few members of anti-poaching squad rushed to the area.

They noticed five persons trying to catch rabbits by hitting with sticks and immediately surrounded and nabbed them, official sources said today.

All the five were produced before the forest officer, who imposed a fine of Rs.5,000 each. After collecting rs.25,000 all of them were released, they said.
