COIMBATORE: Officials of the Forest Department began their search operations for an elephant, which has been moving with bleeding injuries for the last two days in Samayapuram village on the foothills of Nellimalai in the district.

According to police, the villagers noticed the elephant, with injuries all over the body, in the village off Mettupalayam, some 45m from here.

Acting on their information, forest officials rushed to the area to trace the elephant and provide immediate treatment. The elephant was sighted during night times.

Official suspect that the bleeding could be due to fight between elephants.
