Fortnight-long cleanliness awareness campaign begins at Salem Division railway stations

A fortnight-long cleanliness awareness campaign was launched across all Salem Division railway stations from August 16 to 31. As part of this, there would be various themes each day such like cleanliness awareness day and cleanliness propagation discussion day.

On Wednesday, during the Swach Awareness Day, all stakeholders such as railway staff, including cleaning and contract staff, passengers and cab and auto drivers took a cleanliness pledge. It was administered by railway officials and supervisors, said a statement from the Salem Division.

The pledge was to stay committed to cleanliness and not litter and and also not let others litter. They would inculcate the habit of cleanliness with family, friends and others.

In Salem Junction, the pledge was administered by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager A Vijuvin. Pledges were undertaken at Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode and Ooty where passengers also took part.
