Garlands of currencies, jewels, diamonds worth Rs 5 crore on Amman

Coimbatore : People were in long queue to have a darhan of the presiding deity of Muthumariamman Temple in the city Sunday, being the Tamil New year.

Though people thronged almost all the temples ,the speciality of this temple was the garland worth Rs 5 crore adorned with currencies and gold ornaments around the neck of the Goddess.

The Amman was adorned with a garland of Rs 3 crore, with currencies of all denomination, majority of them being Rs 2,000.

Inside the garland, there was another garland made with diamonds and gold ornaments, worth Rs 2 crore, temple authorities said.
