Garment manufacturers seek new proposal from unions

Hosiery and garment manufacturers’ associations in Tirupur today appealed to the trade unions to reconsider their demand for 100 per cent increase in wages.

The appeal was made by joint committee of five manufacturing associations, including South India Hosiery Manufacturers’ Association, and Tirupur Exporters’ Association, which met on Monday evening to discuss the demand by the Joint Action Committee of Trade Unions.

As the manufacturers are not in a position to give 100 per cent increase, the committee appealed to the trade unions to reconsider it and give a new proposal.
