Girl expected 1100 marks but secured 1088, commits suicide

Dejected over not not getting the expected marks in the higher secondary examinations, a teenage girl has ended her life by hanging in her house.

Thamaraiselvi (17) of Myleripalayam in the city was found hanging on the ceiling of her house last evening when all the family members were away, police said today.

As told by relatives of the deceased to the police, the student was expecting more than 1,100 in the examinations, but was upset when she fell short and got only 1,088 marks, when results were announced on Friday last.

The body was handed over to relatives after postmortem at the Government Hospital.
