Joining the state-wide protest against the assistant director of the Employment Department in Ramanathapuram district for allegedly involvement in illegal activities, members of the Tamil Nadu Government Employees’ Association staged a demonstration in Coimbatore here today.

According to one of the protesters, MA Abu Bakkar Siddique, the assistant director has been constantly involved in anti-employee activities.

“Recently, one of the employees and district head of the Association, Ganeshamurthy, retired from office. Since the officer bore an old grudge against him, he failed to give him the full retirement benefits,” alleged a member.

Members also claimed that despite making several complaints to the concerned authorities, no action has been initiated against the official. More than 20 members of the organisation participated in the protest at the Coimbatore District Collectorate.
