Governor files defamation suit on TNCC President EVKS Elangovan

Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah today filed a defamation case against TNCC President E V K S Elangovan in the Principal Sessions Court for his alleged remarks on appointment of Vice-Chancellors to various Universities in the state.

According to the petition filed on his behalf by public prosecutor M L Jagan, Mr Elangovan, during a TV show last month, had alleged that the Governor had taken bribe and shared it with Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for the appointment of Vice-Chancellors.

‘His claims are utterly false. He had deliberately made the allegation to defame and tarnish the image of the Governor and the Chief Minister’, the petition said.

‘A Governor is an apolitical person and Elangovan has made such baseless allegations due to political vendetta’, the petition stated and demanded action against him for his defamatory speech.
