The State Government has raised the job quota for differently-abled persons to 4 per cent from 3.

In a statement today, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said as per a 2016 Act, 4 per cent government jobs should be allotted to the differently-abled and has given necessary instructions.

The reservation will be applicable for all government jobs, public sector, boards, local bodies, educational institutions and government-aided organisations.

Madras High Court had recently served notice to the State Government and the Chairman of Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) on a public interest litigation seeking 4 per cent reservations in TRB recruitments as mandated by the Rights of P e r s o n s with Disabilities Act, 2016.

The Division Bench of Justices M M Sundresh and R Mahadevan had directed the authorities to file their reply by June 2.
