In order to curb the fleecing of public by theatre owners, by collecting more money for tickets, the Coimbatore District Administration has announced a new helpline and e-mail address to forward such complaints.

In a release, the district administration said that a new team consisting of Police officers and administration officials has been formed under the District Collector Archana Patnaik, to monitor the issues surrounding the ticket fare in theatres.

A special helpline (0422-2304204) and an email address ([email protected]), have also been released by the administration to help public file complaints against such violations.

“Within 24 hours of receiving the complaint, the team will conduct an inspection in the theatre against which the complaint was filed. If found guilty, action will be taken against the theatre owners under the Tamil Nadu Cinemas (Regulation) Act 1955,” the release from the administration said.
