A herd of more than 13 elephants destroyed a large banana plantation and coconut trees in Kittampalayam in Mettupalayam today.

The herd had moved down from Nellimalai area and entered the farms where it destroyed nearly 2,000 plantain plants and over 12 coconut trees.

The elephants were moving for the past 20 days over a 40 KM area. Despite efforts to send the herd back to where it came from, the elephants moved to another place.
