Thanjavur: Members of Tamil Nadu Highways Department Road Workers Association took out a rally here today demanding fulfillment of their demands. They urged the Government to consider the 41-day termination period as service period.
The association’s State President Shanmuga Raja flagged off the rally which started from near Sivaganga Garden. The rally crossed Anna Salai and culminated at Panagal Building where Shanmuga Raja and Vice-President Ravichandran addressed them. Later, they presented a memorandum to the district administration.
Workers from to Tiruchi, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Pudukottai districts took part in the rally.
They urged the State Government to allocate adequate fund to avoid the delay in disbursing salary and other benefits. They also urged both the Central and State Governments to give an assurance that the governments would not implement any project such as Methane, Shale Gas, Neutrino and Hydro Carbon projects opposed by public.
