Hyderabad student suicide: SFI, AISF protesters arrested

About 23 students belonging to SFI and AISF were arrested today when they attempted to stage a demonstration near the district collectorate. The protesters were demanding action against the union minister, Bandaru Dattatreya, over the suicide of a Dalit scholar in University of Hyderabad.
The students, including eight girls, raised slogans against the Centre, and demanded the arrest of Dattatreya and the Hyderabad University Vice Chancellor.
Some of the students attempted to barge into the nearby Central Telegraph Office and climbed a gate. But the police managed to pull them down. In the melee that ensued, a senior police official was pushed to the ground. Before the situation could turn worse, the students were taken into custody.
The students of Coimbatore Government Law College boycotted the classes and staged demonstration on the college premises.
