Sixteen icons of Coimbatore were today honoured at a function got up by Rathinam Group of Institutions here on Friday. This is the third consecutive year that the Group has identified and honoured the citizens of Coimbatore who have made a remarkable contribution towards the society and its people.

The 16 achievers were honoured by Tamil poet and lyricist Vairamuthu. They are as follows: Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan, Corporation Commissioner, Dr. P. Kanagaraj, IAS, IPS trainer and Associate Professor, Government Arts College, P. Mahendran, Managing Director , Eera Nenjam Trust, V. Jeevananthan, Chithrakala Academy, C.G. Shyam Sunder, Manager, Public Relations and CSR, ACC Cements, Devika Ramesh, Executive Director, RMP Group of Companies, V. Purushotham, Chairman, Shree Anandhas Hotel, Dr. Sudha Mohanram, Principal and Joint Managing Director, Sri Eshwar College of Engineering, Hemalatha Annamalai, Founder and CEO, Ampere Vehicles Private Limited, Muthu Kumar, Chairman and Editor, Makkal Kural and Trinity Mirror Newspapers, Suresh Bandari, Coordinator, Clean Cities Foundation, Dr. V. Balasubramanian, retired medical officer, ESCI, Master S. Suban Venkat, student, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Swami Sivananda Higher Secondary School, Sai Kunthavi Senthilkumar, SSVM World School, and Sankara Eye Hospital, received the ‘Icons of Coimbatore’ awards today. It consisted of a certificate and shield.

“It is a nice feeling to be amongst people who have made a big difference to the society. I am happy to give away the awards today. I wish that the city of Coimbatore grows and develops in leaps and bounds,” Vairamuthu said.

“It is an honour to have Mr. Vairamuthu to recognise the contributions made by these individuals. It is the tradition of the Rathinam Group to identify and acknowledge the efforts put in by various individuals and groups and we are happy to do so this year too,” Madan A. Senthil, Chairman, Rathinam Group of Institutions, said.
