Industry hails new TN power tariff

Trade and industry have welcomed the new tariffs announced by Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission. The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has said thw biggest relief has been that there is no increase in tariff for any category of consumers.

In a statement it said the new tariffs have I been to the benefit of the industry. Cross subsidy surcharges have been reduced for third party power purchase by high tension industries. Another relief is in the levy of penal charges on 11 KV and 22 KV consumers for harmonics control.

The increase in load limit from 7.45 KW to 12 KW for smaller industries is welcome, especially cottage units, ays the statement. However, the commission has not accepted the chamber’s long standing request to remove peak hour charges.
