We can easily call her the face of digital India, and that isn’t a misplaced claim. Sreelakshmi Suresh, daughter of Adv. Suresh Menon and Viju Suresh is one of the youngest girl web designer and youngest CEO in the world who started with designing and developing the official website of her school in Kozhikode, Kerala, when she was only 8 years old. Ever since then, she has been bestowed with a number of awards; 40 National and International Awards and Honours for her excellence in web designing. Now in her final year BBA, Sreelakshmi reveals to us her future plans and what it takes to be the youngest CEO. Read on..

1. Do you know you are special? What does award mean to you, having received so many at a young age.

Tell us how you developed interest in web designing from your early years. Web designing was started as a passion. I studied alphabets by typing it in notepad. When I was shown a website for the first time, that was only a piece of art for me. And that drew my attention. Gradually I learnt web designing and then designed and developed my first website for my school. With the support that the press and media gave me, I received many orders to design websites. But many of them were not genuine as I was only a 3 rd standard student. It was at that time that I thought of starting a web designing company and thus started eDesign. I received so many awards and appreciation from different parts of the world and that encouraged me to learn more and more in the field of web designing.

2.You became an entrepreneur at an age when people just fool around. Talk about your venture and the pressures of being the youngest CEO

When my first website was launched, the press and media gave me good support. With that I got numerous orders to design websites. But many of the people who contacted me were just kidding only because I was a kid. So , I thought about starting a web designing company and started eDesign. Since, I am a student, time is a major problem for me. I can spend my time for web designing only after my class hours. My present venture is www.stateofkerala.in . it is a mini encyclopaedia about Kerala.

3.Do you follow the current state of IT in the world? How do you see it in the future? Are you worried?

The IT sector in our country is growing tremendously in a positive manner. We have high potential in this field and there is nothing to worry about the prospective feature.

4.How do you manage being a CEO and a student at the same time? Talk about your struggle and sacrifices if any..

I am a final year BBA student, so, I need to concentrate on my studies as well. Now, I can spend time for web designing and related works only after my class hours. It is hard to complete projects during my exam time. Now, I am able to manage my class time and work.

5.Do you admire any particular CEO?

One of the CEO’s whom I admire the most is Elon Musk. The way he does self study is an example for every student. He studied rocket science to make a change in the world, and now, he is trying to make a rocket with which travelling across the globe can be made easier.

6.Tell us about your future plan. What do you want to be, where do you see yourself

It’s my dream and aim to make my company one of the leading in this sector and I want to be a part in the decisive factor of world IT sector.

7.Talk about a day in your life

Most of the day is spent for my educational purposes. An average of 3 to 4 hrs a day I spend behind my company. However, for now I am able to manage my time without affecting my studies and career.

8.How do you unwind?

I love listening to music and I am a good listener. Apart from that, I read short stories and articles related to IT and business fields.
