Defending the Tamil Nadu Government’s decision to not take up the UDAY project, the Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa today criticized DMK president M Karunanidhi and others for unnecessarily faulting the government without knowing anything about it.
During her campaign speech in Virudhunagar, Jayalalithaa said that Karunanidhi was trying to blame the state government for not implementing the UDAY project, without looking into the consequences of the project. Explaining that UDAY will make it mandatory to revise the power tariff once every three months, Jayalalithaa challenged Karunaidhi to explain how the project would benefit the masses.
On Karunanidhi’s remarks that the Chief Minister was inaccessible, she said that a contrary view was expressed by the Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu who said that he had met her several times.
