Bengaluru: The blockbuster party number last year, `Kar Gayi Chul’ from Kapoor and Sons made Kakkar Sisters a household name. They have displayed an impressive range, from a groovy party number to a beautiful rendition of `Bheeg Loon’ from Khamoshiyan. We caught up with Prakriti and Sukriti at Style Jam, Phoenix Marketcity, Bengaluru, just before their live performance.
Firstly, it is very hard to tell who is Prakriti and who is Sukriti, have you always experienced this?
Yes, twin sisters sharing the same profession. We get this all the time.
How is it performing here in Bengaluru? What distinguishes the crowd here from other places
We are very excited to perform in Bengaluru. It is a very hip and happening city. We love coming here. The audience here is very knowledgeable about music. They are not the kinds to dance, they will sit and appreciate your music.
You both are classically trained. Do you think that it is important to be initiated in the world of music with classical training?
Yes and No. Yes, because it always helps. And no, because I believe that one should always have one’s own spin to the rendition and not copy someone else. Your USP is your style of singing, it doesn’t matter if you are not classically trained. Sunidhi Chauhan is not trained formally, but look at her range.
What are your upcoming projects?
We are working on our independent album, where we have written a few songs.
You favourite songs currently?
Channa Mereya, unanimously
Who are the music composers you want to work with?
Pritam and Amit Trivedi
