Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dinesh Gundurao today said that his state always preferred a smooth relation with Tamil Nadu on all fronts.

Talking to mediapersons here, he said the Cauvery dispute arises whenever there was a deficit rainfall due to which “we also have water shortage in our State.” On the construction of check dam in Meekedatu, he said it was just to store the excess rain water. “We will never block water inflow into Tamil Nadu. In fact Tamil Nadu can also construct dams and check dams like us.”

The Karnataka Minister was here to highlight “failures of the NDA government”.

“The economy is in a shamble. Farmers are suffering and there is no growth in manufacturing sector,” he said.
He alleged discrimination by the Centre between the BJP-ruled states and non-BJP ruled states. The Centre has failed to tackle the drought in various states including Karnataka, he said.

On BJP leader Subramaniam Swamy’s charge against Congress leaders’ involvement in various scams including 2G, Adarsh and Augusta Westland, Dinesh said the BJP was most welcome to initiate an inquiry into all these allegations and scams and bring out the truth.
