Karunya University’s intercollege sports meet from September 21

The best college and university teams from south India will battle it out for top honours during the four-day 24th Karunya-Evangeline South India Level Inter-Collegiate Tournament, beginning in Coimbatore from September 21.

The tournament is organized by the staff, students and alumni of Karunya University to commemorate the life of late Sister Evangeline, the only daughter of the Founder of Karunya University, Late Dr. DGS Dhinakaran, and sister of Chancellor Dr. Paul Dhinakaran.

Topmost colleges from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka will participate in the annual event. All the matches, barring football and hockey, will be played under floodlights, a University release said today.

Volleyball, Kabaddi, and basketball events will be open to both men and women, while football and hockey events will be exclusively for men, the release said.

In addition to the rolling trophies, the winners and runners up will receive cash prizes of Rs.15,000, Rs.10,000, and Rs.7000 (third). Individual prizes and certificates will be given to the teams that finish fourth, overall.

Teams from colleges and universities can register themselves until September 5.
