The Kerala Government is planning to denotify state highways and rename them as major district roads to facilitate the reopening of 300 liquor bars.

The Cabinet is expected to take a decision in this regard when it meets on Wednesday.

The Supreme Court, in December last, had directed all liquor shops functioning within 500 metres of highways to shut down from April 1.

The previous Congress-led UDF Government had ordered closure of bars across the State.
