Coimbatore : Panic gripped at Pannimadai on the suburbs, when a kerosene bomb was hurled at the house of a Hindu Mahasabha functionary past midnight on Saturday.

Subash, the Hindu Mahasabha Youth wing secretary, who was watching television last night, came out after hearing the sound of breaking of bottle in the portico and noticed two persons fleeing on a motorcycle, police said.

He then noticed a lit kerosene bottle burning near the car porch and immediately informed police, who rushed to the spot.

Forensic experts reached the spot and collected the leftover of kerosene bomb and further investigations on, police added.
