A 24-year-old woman died because of  complication, following cesarean delivery. Her relatives alleged negligence by the obstetrician and damaged her car.

Ashma  from Dharapuram in Tirupur died soon after giving birth to a baby girl. Outraged by this, her relatives damaged the doctor's car and assaulted the driver.

According to police, Ashma was admitted to Balaji Surya Hospital in Dharapuram at 10 am on Thursday with labour pain. She was taken for a C-section around 9 pm. Her pulse reportedly dropped around 7 am on Friday and her gynaecologist referred her to Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital in Coimbatore, said  Singanallur ACP Suresh.

“On the way to KMCH, the ambulance carrying her broke down. They brought her to KMCH main centre in another ambulance. But she had passed away by then,” police said quoting the hospital authorities.

The relatives of the deceased reportedly  refrained from lodging a complaint to avoid post mortem,  the police alleged.  However they attacked the doctor and her car alleging negligence.
