Sayan, who had met with an accident on April 28, four days after the murder, was undergoing treatment in the Government Hospital here. His wife and daughter were killed in the accident.

Nilgiris district SP, Murali Rambha had held inquiry with Sayan twice in the hospital. Sayan was said to be close to Kanagaraj, the former driver of Jayalalithaa. Kanagaraj too was killed in an accident in Salem on April 28.

He was later produced before the Kothagiri Judicial Magistrate, Sridhar, around 7.30 p.m. who in turn remanded him to custody till June 20.

Sayan is being brought to the Central jail here.

Investigating agency has named 11 persons in the murder. With Sayan’s arrest 10 have been arrested while Kanagaraj, the prime accused is no more.

Meanwhile, a police official in Kothagiri said that Sayan has problem in kidney and small intestine, following the accident. “He has to undergo another surgery, which will be carried out after permission from jail authorities,” he said.
