Marathons are usually held early in the mornings. But, for the first time, Coimbatore saw a night-marathon (Sriram Properties Coimbatore Night Marathon 2015), held under the star-studded skies on August 1.

The marathon was held in order to create awareness about pediatric cancer. A news release from State Bank of India, one of the main sponsors of the event, said that the marathon was, in a way, a tribute to the former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who took keen interest in the health of children.

It further added that running “not only keeps us fit but also strengthens our immunity levels.”

The event was organized by firebrandlabs.
