Lawyers stage dharna

A battery of lawyers today staged a dharna near the district court complex in Mettupalayam in protest against the suspension of two of their colleagues by the Bar Council of India.
Boycotting the proceedings the lawyers, including a few women, squatted at the entrance of the court and raised slogans against the suspension, police said.
Around 19 lawyers from Coimbatore and Tirupur, who were participating in the ongoing court boycott, were suspended yesterday. Of this, advocates Srinivasan and Rahmatullah are from Mettupalayam.
