The police have arrested a college lecturer near Pollachi for trying to set his estranged wife ablaze.

Prem Kumar and his wife Savitha had a very troubled marital relationship. There were constant quarrels. Savitha had left him after one such fight and had gone to her parents’ home. But, relatives pacified them and convinced Savitha to return to her marital home.

But another quarrel ensued and, in a fit of rage, Prem Kumar doused his wife with kerosene and tried to set her on fire. Savitha managed to escape and was admitted to the Pollachi Government Hospital by her father, who was waiting near her house.

Based on the complaint filed by Savitha, the police arrested her lecturer husband.
