Thiruvananthapuram: Legislator PC George, who has courted controversy for several of his comments, has accused Additional Director General of Police B Sandhya for trapping actor Dileep in actor abduction case.

Sandhya was targeting Dileep due to her close association with Dileep’s ex-wife Manju Warrier, George alleged. The investigation led by Sandhya was a sham, he added.

Dileep’s meteoric rise in films was one of the reasons for his being made a target George said in Kottayam. While George has accused the Left Democratic Front Government of targeting him as he was a Congress supporter, PT Thomas, Congress MLA, has been in the forefront seeking action against Dileep.

It was Thomas who stood with the abducted actor and contacted top police officials on February 17 when the incident happened.

Thomas on Thursday said there was a strong campaign going on to dilute the case.

Huge amounts of money and political pressure were being used to derail the case, he said in Kochi.

Actors-turned politicians Mukesh and KB Ganesh Kumar, both MLAs, and Innocent, MP, skipping the film award function of the Chief Minister was as part of the move to put pressure on the government to dilute the case, he said.

It is shocking to find the CPM not responding to this, Thomas added.
