Librarians from 20 nations get hands on training in creating digital library

Around 32 librarians from 20 countries got hands on training in creating digital library.
Held at the Vankatram Learning Centre of Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, Kuniamuthur, the participants were taught how to create the digital library – Greenstone Digital Library Software, and the open source software to develop it and how to create the intranet library website. Dr. A. Fazlur Rahman, librarian, imparted training to the participants.
In his address, the chief administrator, Prof. Dr. M. Jayakumar, emphasized on the importance of such exchange programmes that would help in implementing the best practices by using software applications.
Welcoming the gathering, Dr. J. Janet, principal of the college, explained the importance of modern laboratories, world class libraries, the purpose of libraries and their mordernisation.
