The breweries of DMK functionaries will be closed once the party comes to power and total prohibition is imposed in Tamil Nadu, party MP Kanimozhi, said today.
Replying to a specific question on the charges made by veteran CPI leader, R. Nallakkannu that many functionaries of DMK, which promised to impose total prohibition in the State, were operating liquor manufacturing units, Kanimozhi told reporters at the city airport that all such units would be closed down, after the State came under total prohibition.
Even those running these units had assured that they would neither sell nor supply liquor to other States, she said.
When asked about the frequent changes happening in the candidate list of the ruling party, Kanimozhi said that AIADMK was afraid of the strength of DMK candidates and hence was resorting to change every day.
She criticised Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for making people wait in the scorching sun during election meetings. This had even resulted in the death of two persons, she added.
Ms. Jayalalithaa usually arrived at meetings by helicopters and was not bothered about the welfare of the people.
On the acquittal of party leader Ponmudi, Kanimozhi said it was clear that the case was falsely foisted on him and thus justice had prevailed.
