Central govt orders extension of CBI Director Praveen Sood’s tenure for another year
The district administration has handed over the LPG Crematorium in Thondamuthur, in the suburbs, to the Isha Foundation for operation and maintenance.
The Rs 90 lakh-crematorium, constructed from the fund donated by Thondamuthur Rotary Club, was handed over by district collector T N Hariharan yesterday.
The Foundation currently operates and maintains nine crematoriums in Coimbatore and Chennai.
The crematoriums, known as ‘kayanta sthanams’, are operated by foundation under an MoU with the state government and offer their service irrespective of caste, creed or religion.
