Machines, materials despatched to 3,070 booths

Coimbatore : Additional security measures will be in place in the nearly 470 sensitive booths out of a total 3,070 booths in the district, going to polls tomorrow, District Collector K Rajamani said today.
Speaking to media after monitoring the despatch of EVMs and VVPATs, Rajamani said that all arrangements had been made to conduct a free and fair polls, with tight security measures at place in both the Coimabtore and Pollachi Lok Sabha constituencies. .
Besides micro observers in the sensitive booths, web cameras have been installed at 1,880 booths, he said, adding that all machines and other materials needed for the poll process will reach the booths by the evening..
There will be additional 20 per cent EVMs and necessary technicians to attend to any fault immediately, he said.
On differently abled persons, he said that necessary wheel chairs had been arranged and they can cast their votes with the help of volunteers.
