Malcom Adiseshiah award for Avinashilingam Institute professor

An Associate Professor with Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women has won the Dr. Malcolm Adiseshiah award.

The award, which is given to best teachers of Economics at University level, was given to S. Gandhimathi by R. Srinivasa, Member of the Malcolm Adiseshiah Trust which gives the award each year. The award comprises a citation and Rs. 30000 cash.

Earlier, candidates who had applied for the award were tested of their eligibility through interviews.
According to the organisers, the award is also given to the distinguished contributors to the development studies, best teacher in Economics, best outgoing student award for the students of Madras University, grants to various institutions, grants to UG colleges to improve teaching of Economics, grants to research projects, grants to training programmes and workshops for research scholars and many other activities to develop the teaching and research in economics.
